This November, Climate Justice for Rosa will take part in the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil. Benjamin Van Bunderen Robberechts will attend as the representative of Climate Justice for Rosa.

Together with our partners, we are preparing several events at COP30 to make sure the voices of young people from around the world are heard. Our focus is on giving a platform to those who are already living with the consequences of the climate crisis, young activists from places like Bangladesh, Tuvalu, Zimbabwe, Greece, and many more. They are not just warning about the future. They are speaking from direct experience of loss, resilience, and the urgent need bold climate action.

Benjamin has also been invited to speak at top-level events during COP30, bringing the message of Climate Justice for Rosa into the heart of the negotiations and high-level discussions.

Why does it matter that Climate Justice for Rosa and other youth, and civil society are present in these spaces? Because decisions made at COP shape the future young and future generations. Too often, negotiations remain abstract and distant. We believe it is crucial to bring human stories into the room, stories of loved ones lost, of homes destroyed, of childhoods disrupted. COPs must not become closed gatherings where leaders trade vague promises while ignoring the human cost of inaction.

By being present, we carry with us the memory of climate victims and turn grief into action. By organising events, we open doors for young people from the Global South and across the EU who deserve to speak for themselves. And by insisting on space for youth and civil society, we remind negotiators that they are accountable not only to governments and corporations, but also to the people whose lives depend on real climate action.
