Minute of silence in the federal parliament

On 15 July, the Belgian Federal Parliament will hold a minute of silence in memory of all those who have lost their lives due to the global climate crisis.

Taking place on the European and Belgian Day for the Victims of the Global Climate Crisis, this historic tribute marks the first time the Federal Parliament has officially honoured climate victims in this way. Members of Parliament will pause to remember those who have lost their lives in floods, heatwaves, wildfires, storms, droughts, and other climate-related disasters.

The minute of silence represents an important act of recognition. Behind every climate disaster are people, families, and communities whose lives have been forever changed. By commemorating the victims, Parliament acknowledges the human cost of the climate crisis and the importance of ensuring that those we have lost are never forgotten.
